Sulfate Free Shampoos Hype?

IDK, I recently switched to a sulfate-free shampoo & conditioner (not for ideological reasons or anything; I just thought it would be interesting to try it) and my hair is way softer than it was when I used shampoo & conditioners with sulfate.
